Debbie and Julie started working with Mokume Gane at about the same time. This Mokume (mock-ooh-may) is a combination of sterling silver and copper. The two metals are stacked into 22 layers alternating the silver and copper. Then it is compressed and sliced to produce metal with what looks like wood grain. The copper will patina or you can restore it to a bright color with a jewelry cleaning cloth.
