Just What She Had In Mind - New Jewelry From Old June 27, 2019 17:51
Sue had three rings containing nine diamonds that she was not wearing any longer. She had an idea in her head for all the gold and diamonds to be combined into a single ring.
She wanted it to be 10-11mm wide at the top and taper down. She wanted the diamonds to be set as low as possible. We can do that! We sent a quick sketch to Jere (at first she had 7 diamonds, then found a pair of earrings so the sketch shows 7).
Jere took my lovely (!) sketch and sent me back several CAD images for Sue to look at.
Sue approved the CAD image, so we cut the wax. Sue took at look at it and said, "That is exactly what I had in mind." Next step was melting down her old gold, casting the ring, setting all the diamonds and polishing everything up. The result was this:
Well, Sue was beside herself when she picked up the ring. One of the things we love about our "job" is helping people bring a piece of jewelry from thought to reality. Sue let me get my phone and capture some of her happiness:

We are getting feedback from readers of Cliff's book "Otter Was A Beagle-ish Dog" June 4, 2017 12:18
Cliff's book, "Otter Was A Beagle-ish Dog And Other Mostly True Tales" is selling in our store and here on our website. Whoo-hooo! People are getting back to us with some feed back and we really appreciate it.
Ruth W. wrote a 100 word review of it for Schuler Books:
"Otter Was a Beagle-ish Dog is an entertaining collection of musings, from the author's younger days hitchhiking the deserts of Arizona, to an intimate and moving chronicle of the ordeal he underwent fighting throat cancer. Throughout the pages, Cliff's reminiscences of the abiding presence of his beloved dog Otter, and Otter's innate ability to sense what Cliff needs, overlay the book with humor and personal reflection. He writes frankly and humbly, without a shred of self pity. His casual, homey prose makes this book a joy to read."
Aleah, who supplies us with diamonds from her office in Chicago had some fun reading it to her son and was nice enough to send along some pictures and comments:

"Otter Was A Beagle-ish Dog" book by Cliff Yankovich now available. May 13, 2017 11:17 1 Comment
Cliff has been a freelance writer since waaaay before he got into the jewelry business. He got his first story published in the 80's and has written ever since for various local, regional, and even a few national publications.
In fact - he is an award winning writer. At the beginning of the new century, Cliff was writing a weekly column for a paper on the east side of Michigan. He touched a few nerves by writing about driving while on the cell phone and about parents who sell cookies and candies for their children. The two pieces generated enough response to earn this coveted award:
Otter was the shop dog here at Chimera for over a decade until her death in 2016. She made a lot of friends and provided the inspiration for Cliff's new book which features her as well as some other "mostly true tales" from his adventurous life. Chapter titles include: "Camping In A Crapper - More Than Once", "Six Angels In The Panhandle", "Cancer Boot Camp" and others.
Cliff published the book with the help of Pierre and his crew at Chapbook Press, a division of Schuler Books in Grand Rapids. The book in available in the store, on our website, and at Schuler Books. Cliff's promises a minimum of 4 chuckles, 9 smiles, and more!

We Have Jewelry From Michigan Artist Debbie Fehrenbach March 16, 2016 14:13
Our friend Debbie Fehrenbach has her studio in St Johns Michigan. She and Julie met taking metal smith classes at Kendall School of Art & Design. Her work is very unique and we are pleased to offer it to you.
Debbie has won several awards and can usually be found selling her unique jewelry at Art Fairs. We were able to persuade her to let us represent her at Chimera.
Debbie tells us that her inspiration comes from nature. We love how she combines texture and movement in her work. Stop in the store and take a closer look at Debbie's beautiful jewelry.
